Najlaa El-Ageli

Najlaa El-Ageli was born a nomad traveller and great lover of the Arts. Born in the US, she grew up in many countries including Libya, the US, Italy and the United Kingdom.

From an early age, Najlaa was initiated into the arts by her father, who took a keen interest in dragging her along to some of the world's most famous galleries and museums; that eventually made a huge impact on her world perspective, being able to appreciate the value and power of art in its different forms.

She then went on to study Architecture at the prestigious Architectural Association in London, completing her Parts I, II and III RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects). Her time at the AA provided her with a solid artistic and creative platform and a trained eye for good design.

Her professional work experience has been mainly in the commercial and residential building sectors and some Interior design. In 2004, she also took on the challenge to build a showcase home in the southern tip of Spain, directly facing Africa and Gibraltar.

Over the years, Najlaa has been active with a number of NGO projects, especially in helping to initiate sustainable solutions for small poor communities in Egypt and Japan. In Libya, she is currently setting up a sustainable community centre project in the city of Ubari.

A painter herself during free time, she is now married with one daughter and resident between Libya, London and Spain. She says; "Hopping around the globe has become a lifestyle. I firmly believe that the Arts are the windows to societies. Only through the Arts, can humanity survive."
